I’m sure I won’t be the first of our new year to wish you a happy one. Perhaps I’ll be the first to tell and remind you the pride you should carry in leaving the last one. 365 days since our last January first. Whether this be a daunting or melancholy moment, it’s one worth reflecting on.
Personally, the last year has brought so much change. I’m in a new home, with a different vehicle, and a different path on life I hadn’t anticipated before. My whole person looks different from the woman I was a year ago, both inside and out. I used to look at change through a lens of grief, but a few of my friends pointed out recently, once you look past the grief there is so much to take pride in.
Maybe you aren’t in the same boat as me, maybe a lot of your new year looks the same as the last year. However we are both facing the same waters. Whether reflecting on the last year brings thoughts of grief or pride or something in between, I’m happy to sit in these waters with you.. virtually behind a screen, but nonetheless.
This last year we all were able to collect so many small moments, so many new experiences, and that’s a profound opportunity. One we have once again.
Plus we have a full extra day this year. I cannot wait to see what this next year has in store for all of us, and I cannot wait to see the accomplishments and small victories it will bring, and of course to share them with all of you.
