If I could ask one thing of you, it would be to have compassion.
Compassion to me isn't sympathy, empathy, or having pitty.
To me, compassion means to genuinely care to learn or understand a person or a situation.
Now, let's see what the dictionary says.
com·pas·sion
/kəmˈpaSH(ə)n/
noun
sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others.
That to me isn't what it means, so does that make my understanding of compassion wrong?
