Let's face hit, hunting down a bell ringer, blowing massive clouds, or snuggling up to any of your drugs of choice burned more brain cells than an Alberta forrest fire. Think scorched earth. And as addicts, we start out masking a character defect by using. I'm sad, I wanna be happy, etc. Three of the four components of recovery (psychological, spiritual, social) are covered in most programs. The biochemical component, however, is often shadowed by MAT, or even overlooked. In order to rebuild the neurotransmitters (dopamine, serotonin) necessary for proper brain health, you need to focus on nutrition. Specifically the Vitamins (B,C,D); minerals (magnesium, calcium); Omega-3; and Amino Acids (GABA) necessary to build back those transmitters and replenish those burnt stores.
