Back in the day, you could catch me cruisin' the gut with Special K. The Riviera, on 15" blades, bumpin' to something between 50 and Eminem. Throwing in that Bizkit, cause you know how I do. Me and K weren't cool enough to listen to the legends like - B-Legit, Jayo Felony, or Rappin' 4-Tay. We didn't have the street cred. Just a couple of know-it-all whit...uh..boys, thinkin' we were the sh!t on the streets of greater Traverse City Michigan.
But, after a few decades of living this life, you start to enjoy the finer things. It took some time, some struggles, got some addiction in there, love & heartbreak, had some kids, and a comeback story still in the making. Recovery sprinkled all up in it.
But now, I can enjoy the finer things in life. Reflecting on the music industry specifically. With lyrics like “Takin trips all around the dizorld, I mean the wizorld ni**a - Slangin that shit, cheddar cheese ni**a” and “I stack paper and kick it with the O.G.'s - Some got a nine-to-five, some jook a lot of kis” how can you not say that Rappin’ 4-Tay is your favorite rapper of all time!? It’s genius stuff, like aging cheese. The older I get, the more it speaks to my soul.
I’m wrapping up with this question: who wants in on the petition to get Rappin’ 4-Tay on a comeback tour? From the style that man has, to the time in the pen, or the ingenious lyrics pouring out his soul into our hearts…
These are all reasons that Rappin’ 4-Tay is my favorite rapper of all time.
