Validating someone else’s feelings is one of the most genuine acts of kindness in my personal opinion. Feelings aren’t facts, however, they deserve that validation. Being heard by your loved ones, recognized because the individual stopped and listened to hear; let’s the other person know that they are one, important enough to listen to. Two, that you care, and three, whether you agree or not, you respect them enough to listen without interrupting. I am making a grander effort to listen to hear, not respond. Slow down my personal thoughts and reactions, and aim to understand the thoughts, feelings, and words of others.

Slowing down also gives you an opportunity to think before blurting out words that cannot be unsaid. We forgive, I can’t guarantee forget. Be kind to yourself, hold the door and smile at others, say please and thank you, and just be kind, be authentic, be you. And if no one has told you they love you today, I love you.
