Personal Growth

What is personal growth? You hear this often in the world of recovery, yet it is such a broad spectrum. Who is to say whether you have taken steps forward, backwards, or even left or right?? What I hear is two words; personal: affecting to or belonging to one individual. That makes it yours so own that shit! Growth: the process of increasing. Increasing what exactly? Again, in my eyes I feel this, like anything else in your control, is yours to say it is or it isn’t. As children we are told what to do and what not to do. Depending on the level of love, respect, and validation given and expected in return,

we end up slight variations or products of our environments. Correct? So then 18 roles around and some of us are very confused about what we are told love should be and what we experienced as small and impressionable children. This bleeds into social and romantic relationships, and given the nature and maturity of the relationship and other party. Again, we are moving forwards or backwards in the precession known as life. So today I ask you, the one reading this right now; who gives anyone the right, after all these years of being shown, told, and expected of what is right or wrong. To tell you, you are or are not making personal growth if you are following your heart. Working on your self worth, have learned to live daily saying no to mind altering substances, and manage to continue with the good, the bad, and the ugly that is continuous in today’s world? I say you decide, I know I say this a lot. I say this a lot because anyone who has ever struggled with self esteem, self worth, validation; the list goes on and I’m not even going to add drugs and alcohol because everyone struggles with something whether they are willing to admit it or not. We have choices to make daily, the rest is out of our hands, however the few areas in life we do get to choose result in consequences. And I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of this word having such a negative stigma. So again, I encourage you find your voice, whether it tremble and shake you still say, “I’ll decide”. 1.) Choices

2.) Strength

3.) Honesty

4.) Team work (makes the dream work)

5.) Perseverance

6.) Passion

7.) Unconditional love

8.) Elise Corinne

9.) Jamie, whether she likes to admit it, she’s an amazing human being. 10.) Forgiveness

My wish for you is that you see your worth, you find your voice, and you hold your head high (the only thing that should be high!) And if you’re not striving to improve yourself, you take a long hard look as to why and get the help that you need and so truest deserve. Why? Because each and everyone of you have infinite worth, and I will remind you of that until my last God given breath. I will also remind you, if no one has told you they love you today. I love you. Yours truly,

Anna
