Thank you Justin for giving me a nice, simple topic to blog about and also for giving me the opportunity to think about this because it led me to some fond memories that I hadn't dug up in a while. Just to start, I thought I'd throw out a bunch of the shows that basically made up my childhood. This isn't a perfect, well thought out list, but I'm not going to put myself through the torture of trying to define who I am by my choice of favorite kids shows. I've been working on not needing everything I put out in the world to be perfectly the way I want it to describe whatever it is I'm talking about. I'm getting off track there. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Thundercats, He-Man, Alf, Power Rangers, Animaniacs, TGIF, Home Improvement, Boy Meets World, Doug, Hey Dude, Salute Your Shorts, Ren and Stimpy, Bevis and Butthead. I didn't really get into the PBS stuff. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
But anyway, the memories that gave me the warm fuzzies that I was talking about, is really the only show I remember basically scheduling a watch party with my sisters every week to catch the new episode. I'm pretty sure it was part of a Friday or Saturday night line-up for tweens or something that had a few shows that I'll probably remember as soon as I post this blog but obviously the other shows were just to fill time until the main event started. As I think back, it's really the only show I can remember having that kind of excitement involved with the anticipation of the new release. I'll have to talk to my sisters about it now. Anyway, since I imagine you're about to slide off the edge of your seat so it's time for the big reveal. My favorite kids show that brought me and my sisters together for at least on half hour every week for at least a couple months was.... ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK?
