When you start Recovery, you realize that you have to be brutally honest. A lot of people don't like to do this. This part will bring up a lot of shame and guilt. That you never thought was possible. Having to relive moments of our lives that we totally trashed.
One thing that Recovery gives you, is to put out that dumpster fire. By sharing our past, we build a bridge to get over it. On this journey, you'll feel a sense of relief like the world's been looked it off your shoulders.
The picture I shared of me and my kids shows how I have to be brutally honest. I always have my daughter for the most part. My son on the other hand. I signed off right when he was two. I was honest on a podcast that I'm on called Recovery dads. That's when he realized my side of the story. Sharing my story of the podcast brought up a lot of feelings for me. Vocalize them really brings them to the forefront for me to deal with. Now that he knows my story he wants to be a part of my life. That is one of the greatest gifts that recovery has given me.
