Can You Gain Without The Pain?

No pain, no gain. Who else has heard this basically their whole life? I talk a lot about how every moment, experience, and individual we cross paths with, ends up impacting us in some way, shape, or form. I know they say that alcoholics and addicts learn from pain, or human nature is to not empathize until going through the deep waters yourself. So when does it end? I suppose I’m asking, if you can change everything except for God’s will or the universe’s will; why can’t you change your way of learning or adapt/add learning through a positive. I don’t know about you, but I’ve learned A LOT of lessons through heartache and pain. And I know this year has been rough on everyone, from toddler to seniors. Whether it be you can’t play with your friends, stocks plummeting, or you feeling so alone and isolated from your family in a nursing home. There’s also the given tragic increase of alcohol and drug related deaths, er visits, and relapses. Today is the last day of the year, and I’m not sure if you make resolutions. Today I set a resolution to be kinder to myself; in return I’ll be kinder to others.

1.) Kindness

2.) Patience

3.) Forgiveness

4.) Seeing others succeed and truly being happy for them

5.) Sober holidays

6.) Hugs and long embraces

7.) Unconditional love

8.) Elise Corinne, I pray you’re being told mommy loves you more than life itself

9.) Jamie, my loving and devoted wife

10.) My mom, sis, stepdad, nephews, and brothers (Inlaw)

I can’t change or control what others do, even if it is hurting be deeply daily. I can only control the way I respond and react, and within that how I talk to and treat myself. Set goals, love deeply, laugh loudly, cry ugly, and just be YOU! Why?? Because, you’re be-YOU-tiful!! And if no one has told you they love you today, I love you; have a happy and safe New Year. Yours truly,
